Daur Kove, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation congratulated each other on the coming of New Year and Christmas.

In 2020 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia carried out the active work on the development and implementation of the state policy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the sphere of international relations and coordination of foreign policy activities of the Republic of Abkhazia. Despite the current epidemiological situation due to the global pandemic of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued productive work on strengthening and development of friendly relations with States, which recognized the sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia.

As it became known from the speech of Georgian Defense Minister I. Garibashvili at the parliamentary hearings, in 2021 the Georgian military department plans to purchase a batch of reconnaissance and combat unmanned aerial vehicles. He added that Georgia has recently signed an agreement with Israel to upgrade and completely modernize Georgia's air defense system.

Thea Akhvlediani, the Georgian Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality suggested "expanding the platform of informal dialogue and cooperation with the Abkhaz and Ossetian communities, which would be based on common interests." According to her, Georgia has not stopped this dialogue in order to improve the legal and humanitarian situation of the population, including in the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic. Such a process, she believes, will be continued and become even more intense.

On December 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia hosted a press conference on the results of the 51-st round of Geneva International Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia which was held on December 11-12.

S. Zurabishvili, the Georgian President during her speech in the Parliament of Georgia on December 11, 2020 called on to search new approaches for rapprochement "with our Abkhaz and Ossetian population living in the occupied regions." In her view, Georgia should "seek ways to bridging with the peoples of the occupied regions - Abkhazia and South Ossetia."

On December 10-11, 2020, the 51st round of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasia was held in Geneva, in which representatives of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of South Ossetia, Georgia, the Russian Federation and the United States took part. The round was co-chaired by the UN, OSCE and the EU.  The delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irakli Tuzhba.

We have considered the Appeal of the RPO "Aruaa" concerning the Concept of Foreign Policy of the Republic of Abkhazia, approved by Aslan Bzhania, the President on the 4-th of December this year. A number of claims are being made by Aruaa concerning the procedure of adoption of the Concept and its content, inter alia, regarding clause 2.3.

On the 10-th of December, a ceremony of signing of agreements on cooperation in the field of culture, agriculture, education and sports at the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia was held in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Nicaragua.

On December 6, elections to the National Assembly were held in Venezuela. According to preliminary data from the National Electoral Council of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the "Great Patriotic Pole", led by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSPV), won, gaining a majority of seats in parliament. The results of the vote, which took place in accordance with the national legislation of Venezuela, were recognized by the head of state, Nicolas Maduro.

During the December 4, 2020 OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, a Group of Friends of Georgia at the OSCE issued a joint statement.

On December 1, at the Center for Strategic Operations of the National Electoral Council in the city of Caracas, Z.K. Gwajava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela took part in a meeting with Indira Alfonso, the President of the National Electoral Council and Jorge Arreas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.

On December 2, Irakli Tuzhba, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia met with Erwin Blau, the head of the office Action Contre La Hambre in Abkhazia.

The date of 18 July, 2020 marks the sixth anniversary of signing of the Treaty on Alliance and Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

The meeting of Bagrat Khutaba, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic with Hussein Arnous, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Syria took place in the building of the Syrian Council of Ministers on November 23, 2020 in Damascus.

Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia congratulated Dmitry Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the occasion of the Day of Courage and National Unity of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia held the meeting with Garry Kupalba, the Head of the official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Republic of Abkhazia on November 19, 2020 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.

The last meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna became one of the most politicized events of this authoritative international organization. Some OSCE representatives continued to hang labels on the Republic of Abkhazia and create a false image of the work of the Geneva International Discussions and the positions of their participants considering the "situation in Georgia" and the "occupied regions". The representative of Great Britain also "distinguished himself", who repeated the traditional accusations against Abkhazia and extremely distortedly presented the problems of the Geneva discussions during the meeting.
